Job Summary:

The Salesclerk must possess the knowledge and demonstrate the skills (listed below), to perform the essential functions of the position and support the company. Other related duties may be assigned.
(Location – Princes Town)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Greeting customers as they enter the outlet.
  • Working at the point-of-sale counter to process transactions
  • Calling other store locations to find items that are not available in the store based on customer requests.
  • Suggesting new items to customers based on their selections.
  • Entering sales data and customer data into the company database
  • Stock-taking on mornings and at the close of business
  • Reconciliation of sales transactions and stock counts at the close of business
  • Monitoring stock levels and notifying a superior when items need to be restocked.
  • Arranging items such as special sale items to engage customers.
  • Building customer relationships
  • Any other duties and special projects as directed by management in keeping with the employee’s skills and experience.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 CSEC passes inclusive of Math and English A (Grades 1-3)
  • Previous Sales Experience
  • Computer/Software Literate - Linx Machine/ Sales Software

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Customer service : involves interacting with customers and assisting them in their purchasing process. A Salesclerk creates a welcoming atmosphere in a store, proactively helps customers to find what they are looking for and makes an effort to improve customer relationships.
  • Computer skills: involves using computer technologies for keeping records, checking inventory, and processing financial transactions. A Salesclerk uses digital technologies and computer programs to provide customer service and process sales.
  • Time management: involves managing several job duties while providing timely service to customers. A Salesclerk may need to handle multiple customers during periods with a high level of in-store traffic.
  • Communication skills: Good verbal communication skills are essential for this job. A Salesclerk uses verbal communication to assist customers and build friendly relationships.
  • Accounting skills: involves performing basic accounting functions and using sales software. A Salesclerk uses a sales device, works as a cashier, and processes sales.
  • Marketing skills: involves improving sales via customer interactions. A Salesclerk suggests new products to customers that are based on their preferences, arranges clearance items to appeal to customers and builds customer loyalty by proactively assisting customers.

Compensation: $5000/mth

Days: Monday – Saturday
