NUGFW (Head Office) - Port of Spain

The National Union of Government and Federated Workers (NUGFW) today exists as an organisation representing over 45,000 workers of Trinidad and Tobago With a membership comprising employees from the Private sector but primarily from Government and its agencies, the NUGFW is now the largest Trade Union in Trinidad and Tobago.
The oldest of the organisations which with others eventually became NUGFW, the Federated Workers Trade Union (FWTU) came into existence in 1935, at a juncture between the first phase of workers rioting in Trinidad and Tobago in 1934 and the second phase in 1937. Registered in 1937, the Union was the representative body for some employees of Private Enterprise but represented in particular, those workers in the Public Works Department and the Trinidad Government Railways.
