I would like to apply for any position that may fit my qualifications and experience, I have been employed with Unilever Caribbean Limited for the past 17 years. I held the position of Services Supervisor who is responsible for Utilities as well as the Ammonia Refrigeration plant and the Waste water Treatment plant.
I am relied upon for the maintaining of inventory levels, managing preventative maintenance checks and repairs, inspecting and monitoring work and work areas to ensure quality and safety as well as training of department staff and supervising of department staff and contractors. I firmly believe that my knowledge and experience gained through the years in the engineering department from training to Supervising will add value to this position and to your organization.
Based on knowledge and experience gained starting as an MIC trainee to Maintenance fitter in the NSD, Boiler House, Compressor House, Cooling tower, Waste Water Treatment Plant and Ammonia Plant also I had the opportunity to undergo training in the different aspects of safety for engineering related duties as well as supervisory training which is listed in my resume. I have also been an integral part of major projects in a supervisory capacity in the Waste Water Treatment Plant, Ammonia system overhaul, Boiler upgrade and Installation of the new Ammonia plant and GEA compressors.

    1. Assists in the sourcing of spare parts, local and or foreign.
    2. Monitors and where necessary upgrades minimum stock inventory levels.
    3. Ensures that routine maintenance work on work order forms and/or verbal instructions is performed satisfactorily by the personnel under his direct supervision.
    4. Takes immediate action to repair the equipment and ensures a return to service with minimum downtime in the event of a plant breakdown.

    Position: Engineering Planner
    1. Analyzes work requests for all repairs, planned maintenance and modification work, paying attention to the following details.
    - Checks that the information on the work request is complete and in accordance with factory standards.
    - Classifies the work according to priority and trades required to identify the time in which repairs need to be made and the urgency of addressing problems.
    - Identifies whether further preparation or technical investigation is required.
    - Presents the evaluated work request to the engineer for his authorization of the cost and the design details.
    - After authorization, make the work request to the engineer for his authorization of the cost and the design details.
    - After authorization, make the work request into a work order and assign a number to indicate that the problem has been investigated, costs assessed, and repairs agreed upon.
    - Determines what other department, costs assessed, and repairs agreed upon.

    7. Prepares, organizes and puts into operation a plant history and planned maintenance database for each plant/machine in the factory.

    Position: Fitter “A”
    1. Performs mechanical repairs/overhauls on all machines, plant and equipment in any area of the factory to ensure maximum plant/machine availability and the highest quality product output in accordance with Unilver’s SHE guidelines and procedures.
    2. Selects the appropriate tools and machinery to perform the required tasks and ensure high quality of workmanship.
    3. Erects pipe work in the factory.
    4. Performs simple lathe work, welding and cutting.
    5. Fabricates parts and equipment from drawings and sketches.
    6. Performs maintenance tasks with appropriate documentation.
    7. Installs plant and equipment in accordance with established procedures.
    8. Carries out the lubrication of all machinery, plant and equipment, changing oil, cleaning sumps and filters according to lubrication system/schedule.

    Position: Welder
    1. Adheres to proper housekeeping policies/ practices and keeps equipment and work area clean.
    2. Follows all SHE Rules and related Company work practices.
    3. Understand and apply welding techniques; work quickly and skilfully with the hands; accept responsibility for the work performed.
    4. Knowledge of code for Oxy Acetylene, (OAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and all other welding applications. (including Hygiene food welding)
    5. Knowledge of G6 Pipe welding position and different welding electrodes applications.
    6. Apply knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques in determining the required equipment and welding methods.
    7. Ability to operate equipment that bonds ferrous and non-ferrous metals (weld materials such as allunimum, SS, carbon steel, cast iron and any other metals) including of brazing and soldering.
    8. Review specifications for welding procedures on data sheets, blue prints and machine drawings ensuring that electrode is identified.
    9. Select, lay out materials to be fabricated, cut, joined and ensure efficient utilization and minimize distortion of materials to minimize wastage.
    10. Repair improperly welded pieces and tack all assemble pieces together, chipping off excess weld, slag and spatter, clean or de-grease parts prior to commencement of job.
    11. Ensures that temperate is controlled during the welding process to guarantee accuracy and where necessary change the weld sequence to avoid cracking and distortion.
    12. Grind and/or clean weld joints of work piece by using disc/pencil grinder to smooth out, or grind parts prior to welding and after welding.
    13. Notify Supervisor when necessary to ensure adequate supplies of materials, gas, welders PPE, machine part and all other relevant items.
    14. Observes correct welding standards and ensures proper maintenance of all machines and equipment.
    15. Reviews interruptions of the normal running of equipment and proposes changes and improvements.
    16. Assemble component parts using proper tools e.g. hand and small power tools.
    17. Coordinate tasks with fitters, other welders, supervisors and Engineers to ensure completion of projects.

    Support Operator
    Position: Compressor Operator
    1. Carries out operations of all equipment in the compressor House and Cooling Towers to supply the departments with cold water, ammonia and air as requested.
    2. Takes hourly readings of temperature, pressure etc. to ensure that adequate temperature and pressure go to the departments and the system and to record same on the log sheet.
    3. Completes an accurate and informative shift report to record daily readings of units during the shift, breakdowns, repairs and abnormalities.
    4. Carries full cylinder of ammonia/gas/liquid from Stores and returns empties to Stores.
    5. Makes adjustments to compressors, pumps, valves etc. so as to maintain the best operating conditions to meet the needs of the production departments.
    6. Makes regular checks with the Edibles Department to ensure that unitators are operating satisfactorily.
    7. Drains air receivers and ammonia catch pots to prevent carryover of condensate and oil.
    8. Performs routine lubrication of equipment in Compressor House and Cooling Tower.
    9. Starts up and shuts down well pump.
    10. Regulates the water supply to ensure an adequate supply to the administration building and the factory.
    11. Traces and remedies simple faults on equipment to prevent breakdowns and contacts the fitters when necessary.
    12. Ensures that when equipment is shutdown, it is left in a safe and proper manner.
    13. Maintains Compressor House, its equipment and associated arms in a clean and tidy condition by regular washing, cleaning, polishing and painting.
    14. Informs the Supervisor immediately about any defects or problems which could affect the operation of the plant and equipment.
    15. Assists the Fitters in the maintenance and repairs of equipment as instructed.
    16. Connects full ammonia cylinder to system and top up ammonia level.
    17. Performs other related duties as required to ensure that day to day operations are conducted smoothly and efficiently.










    Position: Boiler Operator
    1. Conducts regular checks of Water Softener regenerates softeners as required to ensure that the water in the softener is at zero hardness rating.
    2. Performs a minimum of one (1) test per shift of the boiler water and makes adjustments in chemical dosing as necessary and records results in the appropriate log sheet.
    3. Performs boiler-blowdown as and when necessary to maintain the boiler in an efficient manner and free of solid particles.
    4. Carries out daily/weekly changes of natural gas and steam recording charts thereby recording gas utilized each day.
    5. Takes hourly readings of temperature, pressure etc. and record same in log sheet.
    6. Completes an accurate and informative shift report book to inform the incoming operator of activities on the shift and the supervisor of all readings.
    7. Takes water samples to the laboratory at least once per shift, and based on the results received make necessary adjustments in chemical dosing.
    8. Ensures supply of bottled gas to various points of usage and returns empties to Stores.
    9. Make adjustments to equipment so as to maintain the best operating conditions to meet the needs of the production departments.
    10. Performs routine lubrication on all plant and equipment in the area.
    11. Ensures the equipment is shut down in a safe and proper manner when not in operation to ensure safety and protection of the boilers.
    12. Traces and remedies simple faults on equipment.
    13. Informs Supervisor immediately about any defects or problems which could affect the operations of the plant and equipment.
