JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for an experienced condition monitoring engineer (static) to work alongside our clients’ condition monitoring and inspection team to coordinate and execute the static inspection and reliability programs within the company.

  • MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESS
  • The condition monitoring engineer that can implement department strategies and programs and who can work effectively to coordinate activities to ensure the reliability, efficiency, safety and availability of static plant systems and equipment within the Condition Monitoring and Inspection. The static plant systems include the reformer, reactors, piping, boilers, vessels, heat exchangers, supports, valves etc.

    The key functions of the condition monitoring engineer are detailed as follows:

    • Provides expertise and apply the appropriate standards/regulations in the inspection of equipment associated with methanol/DME processing, production, and export.
    • Develop and execute strategies to eliminate repeat failures (manage defect elimination, identification of bad actors, Root Cause Failure Analysis, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, and Reliability Centred Maintenance) thereby improving asset integrity, reliability and availability of plant static equipment while optimizing maintenance and operational costs.
    • Analyses trends and interprets condition monitoring information and equipment inspection data/reports to make recommendations/decisions for corrective actions and improvements as required.
    • Develops, maintains, and implements equipment preventive maintenance, condition monitoring and reliability engineering practices for all plant static equipment.
    • Adheres to the work management system and ensures systems are accurately updated to capture real time information and historical data through regular audits. Minimizes backlog of work in area of responsibility.
    • Improves and implements equipment performance monitoring systems and analyses downtime.
    • Lead engineering investigations on catastrophic equipment failures.
    • Identify and support in solving engineering problems through diligent methods, utilizing improvement concepts and tools and apply best practices.
    • Supports technical planning by producing specific work plans using the CMMS and work management system.
    • Ensures that all inspection work orders are closed out in the CMMS with the appropriate Fault Code Statistics and History reporting as per the Maintenance Policy.
    • Identifies opportunities for improvement and develop Memoranda of Change (MOC) for equipment upgrade, replacement, or modification.
    • Manages all CMI tools and test equipment within the guidelines of the company policy.
    • Support the preparation of scope of works, contractor usage plan, tendering evaluation and analysis, procurement, execution and close-off.
    • Monitors execution of routine contracts and turnarounds to ensure that general HSE, Quality and production targets are met.
    • Ensures that all work performed is of the highest quality through the development of the requisite systems and audits.
    • Identify continuous improvement opportunities utilizing up-to-date changes in technology.
    • Executes responsibilities as designated in the permit to work system.
    • Participates in HSSE, Trip investigations, job hazard analyses and prepares the related reports as necessary tracking department actions as required.
    • Prepares repair plans, technical, failure, monthly and other reports as required.
    • Reports to the Condition Monitoring & Inspection Lead or designate.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • BSc in Mechanical Engineering with at least seven (7) years’ experience in the Petrochemical Industry.
    • Practical experience with applicable software’s such as scheduling (e.g. P6 etc.), planning (SAP/Maximo etc.) and inspection (RBI/infrared software etc.) would be considered an asset.
    • Knowledge of condition monitoring technologies, inspection techniques and maintenance philosophies is desirable (visual inspection, infrared thermography, dye penetrant testing, radiography etc.).
    • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards and its applications (API, ASME). Inspection Certification (e.g. NACE, API 510/570 etc.) would be considered an asset.
    • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply fundamental concepts, theories, and practices to resolve operational issues.
    • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of Predictive maintenance.
    • Knowledge of maintenance, planning and scheduling concepts.
    • Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis.
    • Read and interpret technical illustrations, blueprints, maps, plans, specifications, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams.
    • Actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.
    • Proficient in Computer Applications including CMMS, MS Office applications and engineering application software.
    • Previous experience directly related to Methanol manufacturing or similar processes will be an asset.
  • WORKING DAY/HOURS
    • The general working time for the engineer shall be daily from 7:30am to 4:00pm. There would be times where work will be required outside of normal hours (after hours, weekends, public holidays, night shift etc.) and it is expected that the candidates shall be available at such times, if required.
    • The candidate will be required to support the business through its business On-Call Roster by making themselves available on-call support in emergency situations for at least one (1) week per month
