Job Summary

The Business Development Officer is responsible for identifying business growth opportunities and developing strategies to increase sales for Company programmes and training. This involves developing an in-depth knowledge of our company’s offerings, pricing, policies and customer base.

Responsibilities also include researching and identifying any gaps in our offerings when compared to market trends, competitors and stakeholder needs. These gaps should be addressed by outlining new business opportunities and changes to our sales strategy. This Officer is responsible for maintaining good working relationships with contacts. Alignment of these functions with our marketing and branding management are critical aspects of Business Development role. The Officer works closely with the CEO to ensure that revenue targets are achieved.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a business development strategic plan to increase sales revenue.
  • Meet with stakeholders and other clients including non-bank financial institutions - credit unions, insurance companies, government agencies etc. to promote and sell the Institute’s products and services in alignment with annual targets.
  • Identify viable business opportunities and collaborate with CEO to determine the most cost-effective approach to pursue these new business opportunities.
  • Track expenses in relation to the organization’s budget for revenue targets for products and services.
  • Ensure that marketing plan and activities are in line with business development strategy.

Research & Analytics

  • Analyze the financial data, product deficiencies and industry trends to provide recommendations for business growth.
  • Analyze surveys and feedback data to determine satisfaction with IBF products and services.
  • Conduct market research and provide insight into new and enhanced product and service development in-keeping with industry needs and competitive positioning.
  • Participate in industry forums, client discussions, and conferences as a representative of the organization.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge about business development practices, marketing activities, prospective clients and industry trends.

Client and Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Maintain records of referrals, RFPs, prospects and presentations.
  • Develop strong customer relationships in order to generate a high volume of prospective clients.
  • Manage customer calls and appointments effectively for new opportunities.
  • Develop creative strategies to retain the clients including interviewing them to take their feedback and incorporate it into the growth plan.
  • Manage the client relationship management database and utilize it to manage customer contacts and mailing lists.
  • Form alliances with other educational institutions for growth and development opportunities and maintain these alliances.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Administration, Marketing and Communications, or related field.
  • Six years’ experience working in business development or similar role within the financial services sector.
