Job Description:
Purpose & Objective
• The Distribution Manager is responsible for optimizing distribution resources in delivering orders daily to all customers as per the agreed schedule. The job holder will ensure the strict adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures as well as regulatory and statutory requirements to promote transparency and accountability while strengthening the internal control systems, enhancing risk management, improving operational efficiency and cost within the delivery operations in compliance with completing daily deliveries.
Key Result Areas and Main Duties
PROCESS:
Responsible and accountable for establishing strategies for achieving departmental goals and objectives
Lead the Distribution team in an atmosphere that assigns/aligns controls processes and outcomes.
Maintain routines that are focused on the priority of departmental goals and actions to close performance gaps
Keep a very rigid discipline around all Company policy and procedures.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Lead the Distribution team and leverage resources of Distribution operations ensuring customer service excellence in achieving 100% daily delivery execution
Update the customer data base and ensure it is always accurate and updated with all relevant information
Monitor and ensure that all customer needs are met as it relates to deliveries, and that disputes, questions and or complaints are handled on a timely basis.
Maintain relationships with all key customers representative
COST:
Directly responsible for providing Monthly RE Expenses and Annual Budget for department
Responsible for managing all departmental cost within budget.
EFFECTIVE PEOPLE MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP:
• Perform the full range of Performance Management activities for support staff in accordance with the expected standards, inclusive of taking corrective action for non-performance and recognizing top performers in a timely manner.
• Implement initiatives to enhance/improve the engagement levels within the team.
• Monitor the team’s time and attendance and take corrective action for non-compliance with the required standards.
• Identify the training and learning needs of support staff and recommend /implement appropriate interventions to address identified needs. This includes coaching and provide technical guidance, when required.
• Lead, supervisor, and coach the Delivery Supervisors that lead the orchestration of customer experience delivery in the field
• Assist in maintaining the ideal team complement by recommending suitably candidates to fill vacancies in a timely manner.
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, adhering and enforcing standards and procedures for GMP.
• Respond to queries and provide clarification on issues raised by the team on the expected standards of behavior as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS & KNOWLEDGE:
• At least a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related numerate discipline
• Valid Driver’s License ( Heavy T will be considered an asset)
• Recommended Experience - Specialist Knowledge – Certifications
• Minimum of Five years’ experience in a Sales and Distribution environment in a Supervisory capacity

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervisory
• Positions that report directly to the Distribution Manager:
• Delivery Supervisors, Route Planners, Distribution Admin, Customer Service Reps, Delivery Contractors
Access to confidential information such as:
Sales and Distribution Data including Customer information and balances, Prices, and Revenue information.
Access to Company assets:
Including but not limited to Computers, Handhelds, Trucks, Office equipment.
Company Phone, Tablets, Trolleys, Route Accounting Handheld Device and Printer.
Need for external communication:
Oral, written, presentations, reports
Face to face, telephone and email communication with Customers and external 3rd parties
Working conditions to note:
May be required to work outside normal working hours from time to time to satisfy audit requirements or business needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Physical Strength and Agility
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods during spot checks etc
• Ability to lift product (up to 40 lbs)
